Nick Suosso is a saxophonist and educator based in Fort Smith, Arkansas. A performer equally at home interpreting standard repertoire as he is new music, he looks to bring the noise to whatever stage he is on. Recent projects include performances with the Fort Smith Symphony, the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, recital presentations at CMS Southwest Conference and the UAFS Faculty Showcase.

Originally from New Hampshire, Mr. Suosso has performed across the Northeast and the South. He has presented recitals at the University of Arkansas — Fort Smith, regional NASA conferences, SPLICE Festival IV, the Mostly Modern Festival at Skidmore College, Penn State’s Single Reed Summit, the Music by Women Festival at the Mississippi University for Women, The Five College New Music Festival, the New England Saxophone Festival and the UMass Bach Festival. Nick has also placed in state and regional MTNA Young Artist and Chamber Music Competitions.

An avid chamber musician, Nick is currently involved in several projects around the Arkansas River Valley. Mr. Suosso also enjoys orchestral work, having performed with the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, Fort Smith Symphony, Pioneer Valley Symphony, the University of Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, and with the Mount Holyoke Orchestra’s world premiere of Odyssey of a Dream by Bode Omojola.

An advocate for new music, Nick has commissioned and premiered works by composers such as Guggenheim Fellow Felipe Salles, Shelley Washington, Christine Delphine Hedden, Andrew Noseworthy, Gillian Rae Perry, Anna Meadors, and Ethan Cypress.

Recently, Nick was named Instructor of Saxophone at the University of Arkansas — Fort Smith where he teaches applied lessons and chamber music. Along with his position at UAFS, Nick also teaches music at County Line Elementary School. He loves the chance to work with young students and instill a lifelong love of learning and appreciation of the arts! He has also worked with middle and high school students across New England, Colorado, and Arkansas.

Mr. Suosso earned a Professional Performer’s Certificate and Master of Music from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and his Bachelors of Music Education at the University of New Hampshire. Nick has performed in masterclasses for Arno Bornkamp, Noa Even, Kenneth Radnofsky, and the Barkada Quartet. His primary teachers have been Jonathan Hulting-Cohen, Nate Jorgensen, and Dave Seiler. Additional mentors include Felipe Salles and Phillip Stäudlin.

When Nick is not performing you can find him listening to copious amounts of 98.5 The Sports Hub, lounging in the sun with his three-legged dog, Otis or playing bartender for his wife, Laken.
